How can we quantitatively compare the growth of living system?

Quantitative comparisons between the growth of living system canÂ be done in two ways :

(i) By measuring and comparing the total
growth per unit time that is the absolute growth rate.
(ii) By comparing the Â growth ofÂ the given system per unit time expressed on a common basis that is theÂ the relative growth rate.
