Forms of power -sharing

Forms of Power Sharing:

  1. Among different organs of the government: Power is shared among different organs of the government, such as the legislature, executive, and judiciary.
  2. Among the government at different levels: 
    1. Central or Union Government, State Government.
    2. Municipality and Panchayats - Local Self Governments (This is system called Federalism).
  3. Different Social Groups: It may also be shared among different social groups, such as the religious and linguistic groups. ‘Community government’ in Belgium is a good example of this arrangement. 
  4. Pressure Groups: They influence the Government and force them to change policies. They are farmers, workers, industrialists.
  5. Political Parties: They lead to competition and in return ensures that power does not remain in one hand. Coalition governments are formed if any party fails to get a majority. They have to perform to remain in power.
