Explain the use of an electric fuse.
The underlying principle for the working of electric fuse is based on the heating effect of current. A fuse wire has low melting point and high resistance. When an excessive current flows through it, the wire melts and the circuit is broken. The electric current stops flowing immediately. So, electric appliances are prevented from destruction.
Electric fuse wire is connected in series with the live wire.
