Introduction

Any change can be classified as physical change and chemical change. Physical changes can be easily reversed but, it is not easy to reverse a chemical change.

  • The process in which new substances with new properties are formed from one or more substances is called Chemical Reaction.

    Chemical changes are more permanent than physical changes.

    Chemical reactions are the processes in which new substances with new properties are formed.

    Reactants and Products:

    1. The substances which take part in a chemical reaction are called Reactants.
    2. The substances which are formed in a chemical reaction are called Products.

    Examples :

    1. Digestion of food
    2. Respiration
    3. Rusting of iron
    4. Burning of Magnesium ribbon
    5. Formation of curd

    A chemical reaction involves :

    1. Change in state
    2. Change in colour
    3. Change in temperature
    4. Evolution of gas
