Conservation of forests and wildlife is necessary to protect the biodiversity.Forest are biodiversity hot spots. This is important because loss of biodiversity leads to ecological imbalance. But any conservation effort for forest and wildlife must keep the interests of all stakeholders in mind.

Stakeholder: A person having interest or concern for something is called stakeholder.

The stakeholders who are directly or indirectly affected by forest are as follows:

1. People living in or around forests; as they depend on various forest produce for their livelihood.
2. The forest department which is the owner of the forest land.
3. Various industrialists who depend on the forest for many raw materials. For example; the beedi industry needs kendu leaves as raw material. Wood is used as raw material in many industries.
4. The wildlife and nature enthusiasts.

Stakeholders of forests

1. Local People: Dependent on the forest for their survival nature.
2. Forest Department: Govt. who owns the land and controls forest products resources.
3. Industrialist wildlife: Industrialist who use the forest for their business purpose.

Management of resource wisely so that they meet current basic human needs while preserving them for the needs of future generations.
The management of natural resources requires:

1. Long-term perspective so that these will last for generations to come.
2. Ensure equitable distribution of resources so that all economic sections benefit from these resources.
3. Safe disposal of waste.

Sustainable development means following certain practices which help in saving our environment from damage.
