Evolution is simply the generation of diversity and the shaping of the diversity by environmental selection. The only progressive trend in evolution seems to be that more and more complex body designs have emerged over time.

Human evolution:

The modern humans are called Homo sapiens. Many scientific investigations have shown that the modern humans evolved in Africa. They migrated towards the north; in due course of time and settled near what is known as the Mediterranean Sea.

Human evolution is the evolutionary process leading up to the appearance of a modern human being. We the present human beings also have an evolutionary history like plant and other animals.

Evolution of man through ages:

1. Homo habilus lived between 1.6 - 2.5 million years ago.
2. Homo erectus lived between 1 - 1.8 million years ago.
3. Homo sapiens neanderthalensis lived between 2,30,000 - 3,00,000 thousand years ago.
4. Homo sapiens (present man) appeared about 40 thousand years ago.
