Physical Nature of Matter

Matter is anything that occupies space and has mass and offers resistance to any applied force.  Everything in this universe is made up of material.

All matters in the universe exist in three states. There are two ways of classification of matter.
1. According to physical state as solid, liquid or gas.
2. According to its composition as the element, compound or mixture.

How Small Are These Particles Of Matter

All matter is made up of tiny particles called atoms. Atoms combine together to form molecules. Atoms and molecules are constantly moving about randomly due to their thermal energy. When moving particles collide against each other or bounce off a surface, they exert a force on it.
