Effect of oxygen on photosynthesis : Oxygen is not the raw material for photosynthesis, but in the absence of oxygen, photosynthesis cannot occur. A slight increase in the amount of oxygen reduces the rate of photosynthesis in C₃ plants. Higher concentration of oxygen reduces the rate of photosynthesis in C₃ and C₄ plants. It is called Warburg’s effett.
