Globalisation is a concept fundamentally deals with flows. These flows could be of various kinds- ideas moving from one part of the world to another capital shunted between two or more places, commodities and people moving from one part to different part of the world.

Globalisation has been caused not by any single factor, technology remains a critical element. There is no doubt that the invention of telegraph, telephone and the microchip in more recent times has revolutionalised communication betwen actors in different parts of the world. Curently, we are aware of the fact that events taking place in one part of the world could have an impact on another part of the world.

OR

Global commons are those resources which are not owned by any one but rather shared by a community. They include earth’s atmosphere Antartica, the Ocean floor and outer space.

The environmental concerns in global politics:

(i) Throughout the world cultivable area is barely expanding any more, agricultural land is losing fertility, grasslands have been overgrazed and fisheries over harvested.

(ii)Billions people in developing countries have no access to sanitation, resulting in the death of more than three million children every years.

(iii) Natural forest are being cut and people are being displaced. It has led to loss of biodiversity.

(iv) A steady decline in the total amount of ozone layer in the Earth’s stratosphere is posing a real danger to ecosystems and human health.
