Explain how biomass is used as a fuel?
The source of fuel extracted from animal and plant wastes are known as biomass. The waste materials are degraded by anaerobic organisms (called anaerobic bacteria) in the presence of water to form mixture of gases such as methane, carbon dioxide, hydrogen and hydrogen sulphide. This mixture of gases is called biogas.
Methane is an excellent fuel.
