Explain, how did you arrive at your conclusion in each case.

(i) C₂H₆, C₃H₈, C₅H₁₂, C₆H₁₄ are alkanes since these correspond to the general formula, C_nH_2n+2, for alkanes.

(ii)    C₂H₄, C₄H₈, are alkenes since these correspond to the general formula, C_nH_2n, for alkenes.

(iii)    C₃H₄, C₂H₂, C₅H₈, are alkynes since these correspond to the general formula, C_nH_2n_₂, for alkynes.
