Why does the Sun appear reddish early in the morning?
The sun is near the horizon early in the morning. Near the horizon, light from the sun passes through thicker layers of atmosphere and large distances in the air, before reaching our eyes. Therefore, most of the shorter wavelength light including blue light is scattered away by the particles of atmosphere. Light that reaches our eyes is of longer wavelengths, i.e., red and orange. Hence, this gives rise to the reddish appearance of the sun.
