Why does the sun appear reddish early in the morning? Will this phenomenon be observed by an astronaut on the Moon ? Give reason to justify your answer

While sunset and sunrise, the colour of the sun and its surrounding appear red. During sunset and sunrise, the sun is near the horizon and therefore the sunlight has to travel a larger distance in the atmosphere.

Due to this most of the blue light (shorter wavelength) are scattered away by the particles. The light of a longer wavelength (red colour) will reach our eye. This is why the sun appears red in colour.

This phenomenon will not be observed by an astronaut on the moon since there is no atmosphere so no scattering of light takes place, thus the sun appears dark
