Importance Iodised Salt: Iodine is necessary for the synthesis of thyroxin hormone by the thyroid glands. Thyroxin regulates carbohydrate, protein and fat metabolism in the body. Balanced secretion of thyroxin promotes proper growth. A deficiency of iodine in our diet may lead to goitre, i.e., swollen neck and other metabolic disorders. Iodised common salt contains proper content of iodine and helps to avoid the deficiency of iodine.

Our body rects to adrenaline in the following ways
(i) The rate of heart beat increases in order to supply more oxygen to our muscles.
(ii) The blood supply to the digestive organ system and skin is reduced due to contraction of muscles around small arteries in these organs. This diverts the blood to our muscles.
(iii) Breathing rate is also increased due to the contraction of the muscles of the diaphragm and the ribs.
Patients od diabetes have increased level of glucose in their blood. This has ill affects on the working of vital organs of the body. Insulin hormone regulates blood sugar levels and helps to decrease the blood glucose. Thus the diabetic patients are given injections of insulin to treat the increased level of blood sugar and its ill effects.
