Explain the role of culture in listening.

Culture has a significant role in listening and learning. It can be said that culture shapes the listening skills the person possesses. There are cultures, like Asian cultures that emphasize listening to the elders. Also, Buddhism has a notion of mindfulness(devoting all the attention to what you are doing),  training in mindfulness can help to develop longer attention spans, lead not only to better listening but also sympathetic listening.
