WHAT IS RESILIENCE?

Resilience is the quality or ability of a person to uplift oneself from the misery, melancholy, or other mala fide encounters in life. Put in simpler words- resilience refers to the strength and flexibility, which one depicts in tough times.

What do you do if you receive nefarious feedback at work? One way is to swim in the pool of gloom. Or another way to look at the brighter side by taking it as constructive criticism. Which one is better to embrace-decide for yourself?

Moving ahead, let’s have a look at a few real-life examples of resilience for you to espouse with open arms.

EXAMPLES OF RESILIENCE

1.MAKING THE BEST OF THE CIRCUMSTANCES THAT YOU CAN’T CONTROL

If you belong to one of the metropolitan cities of India like Delhi, Mumbai, or Bangalore- traffic congestion must be a day-to-day overhaul. Looking at it through the mirror or resilience, can you do anything about it? Certainly not!

Then, what’s the best thing that you can do, instead of cursing the ongoers and people around you? Turn on the music and put your thoughts to work on an upcoming project, meeting, or assignment. A resilient person would surely choose this impeccable option and make the best out of uncontrollable circumstances.

2.CONSIDERING SETBACKS AS FLEETING

The breeze doesn’t always flow in the same direction; it does gusts into opposite directions as well. That is to say- setbacks aren’t elusive. Take, for instance- you prepared with all your might for an interview, but somehow pieces didn’t fit together, and you didn’t get the job.

How would you take up this situation? Would you prefer to brood over the setback? Or are you a resilient person- who would consider as transient and prepare for the next interview with all the more power?

3.MANAGING STURDY SENSATIONS AND SENTIMENTS

There isn’t just one emotion in the reservoir of our brain- one can’t be ecstatic all the time. Dread, anger, or anxiety does make its way into your mind at one or another point in time. What do you do show your resilience or emotional instability?

Do you let the emotions and impulses do the talking and add insult to injury, or you muster your sentiments to become stable? A resilient person would hit for the latter.

4.EXTERMINATE THE THOUGHT OF VICTIMIZATION

Considering yourself as a victim and babbling about how things always turn blue for is an act of victimizing yourself. Sorry to say, but this thought process is not going to propel you anywhere in life.

A resilient person holds one’s chin high- knowing that sometimes things just happen. Contrariwise, counting yourself as a victim equals belittling yourself and developing that nefarious mindset that makes your life static.

5.UPBEAT OUTLOOK TOWARDS LIFE AND FUTURE

Holding an upbeat disposition and outlook towards your present life and future is an indispensable example of resilience. Being dynamic, open to change, and assimilation and accommodation of new knowledge are reminiscent of resilience.

A growth mindset is an impeccable way to realize the potential of resilience and optimism in life.

6.SElF-AWARENESS

A resilient person is well-aware of one’s strengths and weaknesses. In that illumination, one works towards empowering yourself with your mettle and making up for your weakness in whichever way one can.

On the other side of the coin, one who doesn’t know oneself can never be flexible and all-encompassing to adapt to the problems and miseries in life. This person will always struggle to acclimate to the capriciousness of life.

7.BALANCE ALL ASPECTS OF LIFE

Balancing and committing to all the aspects of life is the clear sign of a resilient person. This person comprehends the fact that all aspects of life are intertwined and needs balance to drive success.

One who relinquishes his family life just to be ahead in business is doing no good to himself or his family. A far better person is the one who contrives to give a fair cut of his life and time to both work and family.
