Zigya Academy 0

Punctuality is not a thing of the present moment but a mirror to the cascading events of your day. Confused, what am I trying to say? Take a look at this example, and you will know what I mean.

Think of a day- you woke up half an hour late, hastened yourself through wrapping up and breakfast, got stuck in traffic, cursed the traffic jam but to no use, arrived late at the office, had a mouthful of reprimand from the manager that rendered resentment. Due to this, you couldn’t work duly throughout the day. Where things went wrong in the first place? Not hard to tell- snoozing off that alarm for half an hour caused you a whole lot of trouble. Am I right?

As they say, time waits for none- you got to stay ahead of time in order to fit the pieces of the puzzle. Even a tidbit piece that shifts from the line can squander the whole puzzle. The same phenomenon applies to the day and life as you saw with the above example.

For now, you know the importance of punctuality in your life; let’s fathom a little deeper to know- why punctuality as a skill is imperative.

7 REASONS TO WITHSTAND THE IMPORTANCE OF PUNCTUALITY AS A SKILL

1.PUNCTUALITY IS THE REPLICATION OF PROFESSIONALISM

There is one thing common among most managers or other leadership professionals- punctuality. Not only it makes the person reliable but also trustworthy. Other people can easily rely on punctual people to deliver their services on time and meet the deadline impeccably.

2.PUNCTUALITY DISPLAYS YOUR VALUE FOR OTHERS’ TIME

Whether you are the head of the company or a fresh employee- everyone has their own set of piled-up works. Valuing other people’s time is an immaculate manner to demonstrate that you respect other people’s time and commitments.

3.PUNCTUALITY OUTLAYS YOUR DEVOTION AND DEDICATION TOWARDS WORK

Being punctual with your work commitments is the perfect way to show your determination to work diligently. Those people who show up for a meeting on time or before time, meet the deadlines of work commitments, and arrive at the office on time every day- have a better chance of promotions and career growth. That is because your dedication manifests through your punctuality of work.

4.PUNCTUALITY DWINDLES STRESS!

As mentioned in the introductory example, being impunctual does beef up the stress levels. It causes you to rush through pending work with inefficiency leading to below-average performance levels.

By contrast, if you wake up half an hour early and make things up in time, you can elude the manager’s flak. Hence, you won’t be stressed and have enough time to meet up the day’s demand.

Moreover, coming up a little early to meetings and interviews spares you time for preparedness, deep breathes, and see everything is in line for the task.

5.PUNCTUALITY IS THE STEPPING-STONE TO A CAREER

While employees are generally hired for their technical and soft skills, but what sets the tone for promotions and leadership roles are the simple significant traits such as discipline, time management, and punctuality. If you exhibit these traits in your personality on an everyday basis, you may have better chances of stepping up the career ladder. Who doesn’t covet that?

6.PUNCTUALITY AMPLIFIES YOUR CREDIBILITY

If you think your job security is solely based on your performance. Then you may be partially wrong. In this dog-eat-dog world, a lot of factors determine your credibility and raise. One of these inherent pieces is punctuality. Employers weigh credibility and reliability on the punctuality of the employee. For obvious reasons, a person who complies with the deadline singles out as the one who can be chosen for administration roles.

7.PUNCTUALITY VALIDATES TEAM PERFORMANCE

As more and more people are working in teams at the workplace, the punctuality of every comrade puts in the share for better performance.

Of late, if a single person considers leeway in the completion of their task, the whole team project may get affected in the long run. As a result, the performance of the whole team dampens.

Whereas, if you comply with your work on time, your teammates get a better chance of closing their parts. And at the end of the task, you can even leverage an extra hour for appraisal and doubt clearance. Undoubtedly, this sounds better, isn’t it?
